Kate MacFarlane

Kate MacFarlane is a senior lecturer at the University of Sunderland. Her main area of research is Artificial Intelligence, including machine learning, autonomous systems, automated reasoning, data management, communication overhead management, automated decision making, natural language processing, software development.

She has experience of working with distributed systems and have designed and built high-performance computing clusters for use in general applications. She is also interested in computer games design, development and technology.

Kate led the CEWO group called ‘Engaging Young in Cybersafety’ and came up with a number of artworks:

  1. Glass Globe
  2. Glass Mobile Phone
  3. Fragile Earth in phases (4X canvas)
  4. Photoprints People & Technology
